“For now, the team have renewed all development coaches contracts, including from Under 14, 15, 17, 19 to DDC team,” a club representative stated. This renewal includes coaches across various age groups, ensuring a stable environment for the development of young talent at Kaizer Chiefs.
The renewed contracts encompass not only the head coaches of the junior teams but also goalkeeper coaches and fitness trainers. Notable names among the renewed staff include Tladi Mathibe, Rory Minnar, Edgar Mokgonyana, Muzi Maluleke, Leroy Fisher, and Thulani Ntshingila.
Coach Vela Khumalo, who leads the DDC team, is among those whose contracts have been extended, reflecting the club’s commitment to nurturing talent from a young age. The management has decided to maintain the existing coaching structure for the junior teams, which has been effective in identifying and developing promising players.
Despite the positive news regarding the development coaches, the situation is less clear for the senior team. Interim coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have not yet renewed their contracts, leading to uncertainty about their future with the club. “Yes as much as all other technical departments have renewed their contracts the senior team interim coaches Ben Khalil Youssef and Cedric Kaze have not yet renewed theirs,” the representative added.
Kaizer Chiefs are currently positioned to finish third in the Premier Soccer League table, a commendable achievement amid recent challenges. The club faced setbacks earlier this season, including elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup and the Nedbank Cup, which may have influenced their coaching decisions.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the future of the senior team coaches, as their initial contracts are expected to expire in June 2026. The club’s management is likely weighing their options as they consider the next steps for the senior team.
