A R750 million investment has been announced for the development of the Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel in Gauteng, South Africa. This ambitious project is expected to be fully operational by January 2028, marking a significant addition to the region’s hospitality landscape.
The development will be managed by the same team that successfully operated the Century City Conference Centre and Hotels for the past decade. This continuity in management is anticipated to bring a wealth of experience to the new venue, which will accommodate up to 1,350 delegates in a single venue and 2,000 across 16 flexible spaces.
The adjoining hotel will feature 180 rooms and apartments, complemented by an all-day dining restaurant, wellness facilities, a swimming pool, and private dining spaces. This comprehensive offering aims to cater to both business and leisure travelers, enhancing the appeal of Waterfall City as a destination.
Jackie van Niekerk, a representative from Attacq Waterfall Investment Company, stated, “This R750-million development is an example of how we continue to unlock long-term value within the Waterfall City precinct through strategic capital allocation and solid partnerships.” This sentiment reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable and thoughtful expansion in the region.
Furthermore, the Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel will be the first major development under the African Rain Collection portfolio, which will oversee conference and hospitality assets in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. This new portfolio was introduced following the expansion of the Century City Conference Centre and Hotel, indicating a strategic move to enhance hospitality offerings across key South African cities.
Gary Koetser, also involved in the project, emphasized the focus on creating real value, stating, “Our focus is not growth for growth’s sake, but thoughtful expansion where we can create real value for our clients, partners, and the precincts we operate in.” This approach underscores the importance of sustainable development in the current economic climate.
As the project progresses, observers will be keen to see how the development impacts the local economy and tourism sector in Gauteng. The integration of sustainable practices and a focus on long-term value creation will be critical factors in the project’s success.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific timeline for construction milestones, but the anticipation surrounding the Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel continues to grow as stakeholders prepare for its launch in early 2028.
