Abdul Samad Rabiu emphasized the role of distributors in socio-economic development during the BUA Cement awards ceremony held in Cape Town on April 27, 2026. He recognized and rewarded top-performing distributors for their contributions to the company and the wider Nigerian economy.
At the 2025 distributors’ awards in Lagos, BUA Cement honored 30 distributors across four categories: regional champions, pacesetters, powerhouses, and market dominators. Rabiu stated, “This awards ceremony is to acknowledge the efforts of our distributors who have shown resilience and have grown with BUA Cement Plc over the years through their outstanding performance.”
Rabiu noted that these distributors play a vital role beyond sales. “Their role goes beyond selling cement. They are key contributors to socio-economic development across Nigeria,” he said.
BUA Cement has experienced significant growth recently. The company recorded a 22.1% increase in revenue to N355 billion in Q1 2026. In 2025, it posted total revenue of N1.18 trillion and declared a dividend of N10 per share.
Rabiu’s fortune also reflects this success. His combined wealth recently surpassed $14 billion, making him Africa’s third wealthiest individual at age 65.
Rabiu founded BUA Group in 1988 as a commodities trader. He transformed it into one of Nigeria’s most powerful industrial conglomerates. His leadership emphasizes entrepreneurship in Africa.
The impact of these awards extends beyond recognition. They inspire other distributors and entrepreneurs to contribute to economic growth.
Yet, challenges remain for many businesses in Nigeria. Economic fluctuations can affect distributor performance and overall market stability.
As Rabiu stated, “Africa’s greatness isn’t a distant dream. It’s something we build, intentionally, every single day.” This vision drives BUA Group’s strategy for future growth.
With continued focus on distributor engagement and socio-economic contributions, BUA Cement aims to strengthen its position in the market while fostering a robust entrepreneurial environment across Africa.
