Volkswagen’s ID. Polo marks the transformation of a long-standing bestseller into an all-electric vehicle, featuring advanced technologies and a competitive price. The ID. Polo is the seventh generation of the Polo, which has sold over 20 million units. Pre-sales for the ID. Polo began on April 29, 2026.

The previous expectation was that the Polo would remain a conventional compact car, but Volkswagen has shifted its strategy to embrace electric mobility. The ID. Polo offers a WLTP range of up to 454 km, making it competitive in the growing electric vehicle market.

This change affects various stakeholders. Consumers gain access to a modern electric vehicle at a starting price of 24,995 euros. Volkswagen aims to make electric mobility accessible to more people, as stated by Thomas Schäfer: “With the ID.Polo, we are making electric mobility accessible to many more people.”

Key specifications:

  • The ID. Polo features three output levels: 85 kW (116 PS), 99 kW (135 PS), and 155 kW (211 PS).
  • The luggage compartment volume has increased from 351 to 441 litres compared to the conventional Polo.
  • The ID. Polo can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 23 minutes at DC quick-charging stations for the 85 kW and 99 kW versions.

Experts note that this model showcases Volkswagen’s new Pure Positive design language, which reflects modern automotive technology trends. Additionally, the ID. Polo Trend serves as the entry-level model equipped with a 90 kW DC quick-charging function.

The upcoming sporty flagship model, the ID. Polo GTI, is set to launch next year, further expanding Volkswagen’s offerings in this segment. Thomas Schäfer remarked, “The ID.Polo brings a Volkswagen bestseller into the electric age.”
