By Tasneem Adams · Rugby & Cricket Writer · March 7, 2026Current Situation
Preston North End is currently in 10th place in the league, a position that reflects their recent struggles. The team has only managed to secure one victory in their last seven games, with two draws and four losses, leaving them three points adrift of Wrexham, who occupy the sixth spot.
Recent Performance
In stark contrast, Swansea City has been enjoying a resurgence, winning three of their last four matches, with only one loss. Historically, Swansea has been a challenging opponent for Preston, having lost just one of their last 23 home league games against them, with an impressive record of 17 wins and 5 draws.
Upcoming Match
As Preston North End prepares to face Swansea City at Deepdale on March 6, 2026, they are looking to achieve a significant milestone. The team aims to complete the league double over Swansea for the first time since the 1933-34 season, having won the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Impact of Recent Games
Preston’s recent form has been concerning, particularly their goal-scoring ability, as they have only netted nine goals in their last six games combined with Oxford United. This lack of offensive output has put additional pressure on the team as they approach this critical match.
While Preston has won two of their last four away league games against Welsh sides, their overall performance in midweek league games has been disappointing, with only two wins out of their last 12 such matches, alongside seven draws and three losses.
Broadcast Information
The upcoming match against Swansea will kick off at 8 PM and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Football, providing fans with an opportunity to witness whether Preston can turn their fortunes around.
With the stakes high and a historical achievement within reach, Preston North End must find a way to overcome their recent challenges and secure a vital win against a formidable Swansea City side.
