SASSA has confirmed the grant payment dates for May 2026. Older persons will receive their grants on May 5, followed by disability grants on May 6, and children’s grants on May 7. Beneficiaries whose grants are under review will receive payments on May 8.
SASSA reassured beneficiaries that changes in Postbank services will not disrupt the scheduled grant payments. The public holiday for Workers’ Day on May 1 will not impact the payment schedule.

SASSA encourages beneficiaries to collect their grants on the designated dates. Beneficiaries should have their SASSA cards and valid identification ready when collecting payments.
SASSA stated that there will be an increase in several grant amounts. The Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, and Care Dependency Grant will each see an increase of R80, bringing the total to R2400. The War Veterans Grant will increase by R80 to R2420. The Foster Child Grant will rise by R40 to R1290.
The Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid will each increase by R20 to R580.
SASSA reiterated its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries at the right time. Yet, it is advisable for beneficiaries to check account balances discreetly and report any suspicious activity or card problems immediately.
All systems are ready for the upcoming May payment cycle, according to Themba Matlou of SASSA. Beneficiaries can expect a smooth process during this period.
