“The F700 shown in Beijing is a plug-in hybrid.” This statement underscores Jetour’s ambition as it unveils its first-ever bakkie at the Beijing Motor Show.
The F700 features a robust ladder-frame chassis. It is the second model launched under Jetour’s Zongheng sub-brand, which focuses on off-road vehicles. The new model boasts a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain with a total output of 665 kW and torque of 1,135 Nm.
According to China’s CLTC cycle, the F700 has a claimed all-electric range of 150 km. This electric range positions it competitively against established models in the market.
Jetour aims to rival vehicles like the BYD Shark 6 in Australia. The F700 is set to arrive in South Africa in 2027, with potential plans for an Australian launch in 2028.
The vehicle’s wheelbase exceeds 3.3 metres, offering ample space and stability. However, officials have not confirmed whether the F700 shares its foundation with the G700.
Additionally, specifications for the diesel-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain tailored for Australia remain under wraps. Jetour is expected to launch with an SUV-focused line-up initially.
This debut marks a significant step for the Chinese carmaker in entering the competitive plug-in hybrid ute segment. As electric vehicles gain traction globally, Jetour’s strategic positioning may enhance its market presence.
