SASSA has confirmed the official payment dates for social grants in May 2026. The agency announced a staggered payment schedule that includes significant increases in grant amounts.
Key payment dates:
- Older persons will receive their grants on 5 May 2026.
- Disability grants will be paid on 6 May 2026.
- Children’s grants will be paid on 7 May 2026.
- SRD R370 grant payments are scheduled between 24 May and 30 May 2026.
The Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, and Care Dependency Grant will increase by R80 to R2,400. The War Veterans Grant will also see an increase of R80 to R2,420. Additionally, the Foster Child Grant will rise by R40 to R1,290. The Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid will increase by R20 to R580.
SASSA reiterated its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries at the right time. The agency encourages beneficiaries who may not receive their grants on the specified dates to visit their nearest SASSA local office for assistance.
