Barcelona faced Bayern Munich at Camp Nou in a UEFA Women’s Champions League match on May 10. Barcelona won decisively, finishing with a score of 4-1. A late VAR decision disallowed a potential equaliser for Bayern Munich, highlighting the tension in the match.
Salma Paralluelo opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 13th minute. Linda Dallmann quickly equalised for Bayern in the 17th minute. However, Alexia Putellas restored Barcelona’s lead just five minutes later, making it 2-1 by the 22nd minute.
Bayern struggled to regain momentum after that. Ewa Pajor extended Barcelona’s lead to 3-1 in the 55th minute. Alexia Putellas scored again in the 58th minute, bringing the score to 4-1.
Pernille Harder managed to score for Bayern Munich in the 71st minute, reducing the deficit to 4-2. Yet, her late goal in the 90th minute was disallowed by VAR for a foul in the build-up.
The DFB captain stated, “We felt we were in it,” reflecting on the match’s intensity. She further added, “That’s how you kill the game,” referring to Barcelona’s performance.
Bayern Munich aims to achieve a domestic double against VfL Wolfsburg on May 14. Meanwhile, Barcelona prepares for their upcoming Champions League final against Olympique Lyon on May 23 in Oslo.
