What Happened
Samsung has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Galaxy S26 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, California. The series includes three models: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The new devices feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a redesigned rear camera island, while maintaining similar display sizes and camera specifications as their predecessors, the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
Why It Matters
The Galaxy S26 series introduces notable changes, particularly in battery capacity, with the S26 increasing to 4,300mAh from 4,000mAh. However, the pricing has also seen a shift, with the S26 starting at $900 and the S26+ at $1,100, reflecting a $100 increase from last year. Additionally, both models now come with a minimum of 256GB storage, eliminating the previous 128GB base option. The S26 Ultra features a unique Privacy Display, enhancing user security by preventing onlookers from viewing sensitive information.
What’s Next
The Galaxy S26 series is currently available for preorder, with official sales set to begin on March 11. Samsung is also launching new wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro, on the same date. As the market anticipates these releases, the focus will be on how the new AI features and performance optimizations will impact user experience.
