Toyota Fortuner Spy Shots: Next-Generation Model Under Testing
Spy shots of the next-generation Toyota Fortuner have emerged, showcasing the vehicle wrapped in camouflage while undergoing testing in Thailand. This development follows the recent unveiling of the new Hilux, although Toyota has yet to officially announce details regarding the Fortuner.
The spy images reveal several exterior design elements that align with the latest Hilux, including tapered headlamp clusters and a honeycomb front grille. The side profile appears similar to the current-generation Fortuner, maintaining its tall and boxy proportions.
While specific powertrain details remain unconfirmed, it is anticipated that the new Fortuner will utilize the same engine options as the ninth-generation Hilux, which is set to launch in South Africa in 2026. The Hilux features a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, available in both standard and mild-hybrid formats, producing 150 kW and 500 N.m of torque.
Reportedly, the Fortuner will continue to be based on the IMV 0 platform and is expected to share interior design elements with the new Hilux, including dual 12.3-inch displays and a layout reminiscent of the Land Cruiser Prado. Additional features may include a surround-view camera system and heated and ventilated front seats.
The current-generation Fortuner has been on sale for nearly a decade, making the introduction of its successor significant for the market. The all-new model is expected to make its global debut later this year, generating considerable anticipation among consumers and automotive enthusiasts alike.
