The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced the payment dates for social grants in April 2026, which will have a significant impact on beneficiaries. The Older Persons Grant will be paid on 2 April 2026, followed by the Disability Grant on 7 April 2026, and the Children’s Grants on 8 April 2026.
These dates have been carefully scheduled to avoid conflicts with weekends and public holidays. SASSA ensures that payments are not made on the first of the month or on a Monday, and if a payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday, it is moved to the next business day.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to collect their grants after the official payment date to avoid long queues. SASSA has reiterated its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries at the right time.
In addition to the payment schedule, SASSA has announced increases in social grants effective from April 2026. The Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, and Care Dependency Grant will each increase by R80, bringing the new amount to R2,400. The War Veterans Grant will also see an increase of R80, resulting in a new total of R2,420.
Furthermore, the Foster Child Grant will increase by R40, reaching R1,290, while the Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid will see an increase of R20, bringing them to R580.
Beneficiaries who do not receive their grants within two to three business days of the expected payment date are advised to contact SASSA at 0800 60 10 11 or visit their nearest local office for assistance.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further changes or updates to the payment schedule as the date approaches. SASSA appeals to beneficiaries to stay informed and prepared for the upcoming changes in their grant payments.
