Orlando Pirates beat Richards Bay 2-0 in a Premier Soccer League match today, marking a significant win in their campaign.
Oswin Appollis opened the scoring for the Pirates in the 26th minute, giving the team an early advantage. The second goal came from Evidence Makgopa, who converted a penalty in added time, sealing the victory.
This win places Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in a tie at the top of the league table, both teams now holding 47 points. The victory was crucial for the Pirates, especially after Sundowns had widened the gap by three points in their previous match.
On the other hand, Richards Bay’s loss has resulted in a drop to 10th position, with the team now accumulating 23 points from 20 games.
Pittsburgh Pirates Game
In a separate event, the Pittsburgh Pirates faced a defeat against the Baltimore Orioles, losing 7-2 in a Spring Training game. The Pirates struggled offensively, managing only four hits throughout the game.
