Clicks Retailers Pty Limited has initiated a recall of its Made For Tots Puffs Corn Chicken snacks, specifically weighing 12 grams, due to concerns over potential Listeria contamination. This action follows notification to the National Consumer Commission (NCC) regarding the contamination issue.
The recall affects a total of 1,152 units of the product, of which approximately 348 units have already been sold to consumers. Additionally, 804 units have been removed from shelves across Clicks Stores and Clicks Online to prevent further distribution.
While the contamination is classified as non-pathogenic to humans, there have been rare cases of associated human disease. The NCC has emphasized the importance of consumer safety, urging individuals to stop using the product immediately.
“Consumers should stop using the product and return it to Clicks Retailers for a full refund,” stated the National Consumer Commission. This recall is part of a broader initiative to ensure that suppliers provide goods that are of good quality and free from defects.
Hardin Ratshisusu, a representative from the NCC, remarked, “As we observe this day with the theme Safe Products. Confident Consumers, we remind suppliers of their obligation to provide goods of good quality, free of defects, usable, and durable.” This statement underscores the NCC’s commitment to monitoring the situation and ensuring compliance with the Consumer Protection Act.
Consumers are encouraged to return the affected product for a full refund or replacement, regardless of proof of purchase. The NCC will continue to monitor the recall process to ensure that Clicks Retailers complies with all necessary regulations.
As this situation develops, officials are focused on ensuring that consumers are informed and safe from potential health risks associated with the recalled product. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further actions that may be taken as a result of this recall.
