ADvTECH Group has secured 10 hectares of land for a new university mega-campus in the Durban–Umhlanga corridor, which could accommodate more than 10,000 students. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the first phase scheduled to open in 2029.
The first phase of the campus will accommodate around 8,000 students and will feature three academic buildings. Facilities will include specialized labs for various engineering and technology fields, enhancing the educational offerings in these critical sectors.
Additionally, the first phase will include a 500-bed student residence, addressing the growing demand for student accommodation in the area. This project follows two other new tertiary developments by ADvTECH Group that opened earlier in 2026, indicating the organization’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities.
The land for the new campus was purchased from Fundamentum Property Group, which has been involved in significant real estate developments in the region. The area has seen substantial investment in recent years, making it an ideal location for a higher education facility.
The campus aims to provide training in sectors linked to technology, engineering, and innovation, which are vital for the region’s economic growth. The project is expected to boost economic activity in surrounding communities, contributing to local development.
As the project progresses, observers are keen to see how it will impact the educational landscape and local economy. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific programs that will be offered and the total investment involved in the project.
