Clicks Retailers Pty Limited has initiated a recall of its Made For Tots Puffs Corn Chicken, a snack designed for children, following concerns of Listeria contamination. This action comes after the National Consumer Commission (NCC) was notified by Clicks about the potential health risks associated with the product.
The affected product weighs 12 grams and is part of a larger batch that totals 1,152 units. Of these, approximately 348 units were sold to consumers, while an additional 804 units have been proactively removed from shelves across Clicks Stores and Clicks Online.
While the contamination is classified as non-pathogenic to humans, there are rare cases of associated human disease. As a precaution, the NCC has urged consumers to cease use of the product immediately and return it to Clicks Retailers for a full refund, regardless of proof of purchase.
Hardin Ratshisusu, a representative from the NCC, emphasized the importance of product safety, stating, “As we observe this day with the theme Safe Products. Confident Consumers, we remind suppliers of their obligation to provide goods of good quality, free of defects, usable, and durable.” This statement highlights the ongoing commitment to consumer safety and product integrity.
The NCC is actively monitoring the recall process to ensure compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, reinforcing the message that consumer safety is a priority. The situation underscores the responsibility of companies to maintain high standards in their product offerings.
Consumers are encouraged to stay informed about the recall and to take the necessary steps to return the affected product. The NCC’s involvement aims to ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that consumers are adequately protected from potential health risks.
As this situation develops, further updates will be provided to keep the public informed about any new findings or actions taken regarding the recall.
Details remain unconfirmed.
