WCG, Suzelle DIY And Helen Zille Unite To Save Water This World Water Day

On World Water Day on Tuesday, 22 March 2016, Western Cape Government (WCG) joined forces with the quirky Suzelle DIY and Western Cape Premier Helen Zille, in an attempt to illustrate practical ways to save water in the drought-ridden district.

Western Cape Government approached their agency team at Y&R South Africa’s Cape Town office with the idea to involve the star from the hit YouTube series and author of ‘Suzelle DIY: The Book’, Julia Anastasopoulos. Y&R then facilitated the process and identified Premier Helen Zille, well-known for being a great sport and one of the most recognisable faces of the Western Cape Government, to participate in the call for consumers to use water responsibly.

“The humour in the ‘How to be Water Wise, Guys’ is a very unique way of penetrating the clutter of so-called ‘green messaging’, commented Graham Lang, Chief Creative Officer of Y&R South Africa and Africa. “Suzelle DYI’s innocent ignorance about her guest’s stature and importance, coupled with Helen Zille’s comedic timing, is very entertaining – but the focus remains on the practical tips to save water. A lovely mix of partners worked together to bring this message to life, and we hope South African consumers are inspired by it,” he added.
