1 Great success
Monday, 10 December 2012 saw the last shoot day for Sunfoil Sunflower Cooking Oil’s two TV commercials: Sunfoil ‘Now We’re Cooking’ Brand and Sunfoil ‘Now We’re Cooking’ Cricket.
Directing one of the latest campaigns to come out of the Y&R Cape Town and Y&R Durban offices was Mfundo Mkhezi of Ola Films. The budget was tight, but thanks to the efforts of producers Brian Scott and Brenda Wilson and their teams, what we saw was a production worth so much more.
Bringing to life Sunfoil’s latest tagline of ‘Now We’re Cooking’ took some effort, but the energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved left little doubt as to whether or not the project would be a success.
There were some great laughs and some great highlights, one of which was shooting in one of the few remaining residential homes designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Baker was the dominant force in South African architecture for two decades, and was responsible for designing the Union Buiding in Pretoria. On a more personal note, Y&R Cape Town copywriter, Tyler Botha managed to fight off his Art Director, Gareth Owen to realise his dream of becoming a hand model. Catch his debut in the title shot of the Cricket TVC.
From a budding development cricket team to the national Proteas Test players, and from boerie rolls to a meal fit for an Indian Raja, our latest two ads aimed to capture the role that this premium cooking oil plays in this amazingly diverse nation of ours. We cannot wait to see the final edit tomorrow.
